Alabama and Georgia Servas members decided to join together to support and strengthen Servas in our area when we had our first get together June 7th in Atlanta, Georgia USA. Eleven members showed up at Scout Oakhurst restaurant for lunch and animated conversation. The time flew by as we told tales of our travels and past experiences with Servas.
The Georgia USA contingency is divided equally into two groups: one in the Atlanta area and the other in the Athens area, home of the University of GA. Alabama has some work to do to build Servas membership, having one household in the Birmingham area, and another midway between Birmingham and Atlanta.
We are all excited at the prospect of what we can do in the future by joining forces. We are hoping to expand our reach by getting to know other Servas members in the Southeast to provide a more enriched travel experience for those wanting to know about the rich culture of the Southeastern United States.
