About Servas DC

Servas DC is one of the largest and most active groups in the country. We include not only travelers and hosts in Washington DC itself but also in the nearby suburbs of Virginia and Maryland.

We hold a pot-luck dinner in some member’s house each December, and a pot-luck picnic in June. These are crowded, happy occasions to meet old friends and for new friends and inquirers to meet us and learn about our activities. From time to time members will sponsor dinners with travel shows from their recent Servas trips, or invite the rest of us to international film showings or festivals. In 2009 we discontinued our long-running monthly dinners.

Servas DC also has a local list-serve – an email network that links all our members and many other friends besides. We use this to organize our events, to discuss Servas-related matters, and most importantly to find hosts for incoming travelers.
